Henerys Targaryhen II

Henerys Targaryhen II

Leghorn

Henerys (Stormborn, of house Targaryhen, second of her name) arrived after the sad departure of Henerys.  Frankly it was such a great name we couldn’t afford to let it go, and it’s a fitting tribute to the original Henerys who brought much joy in her short time with us.

Henerys Targaryhen

Henerys Targaryhen

Leghorn

Henerys was one of the first trio of chickens to enter the second coop and run, alongside Miss Moneyhenny and Maranda.  She’s a Leghorn who lays pure white eggs.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t very well and was replaced by Henerys II just over two weeks after she arrived.

Princess Layer

Princess Layer

Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex

Princess Layer joined us in August 2015.  She lays the largest eggs, she lays at an astonishing rate and her eggs have won multiple awards at poultry shows, and boy does she let us know about it all!  She’s quite the diva but we wouldn’t change that for the world.  She’s also the friendliest hen and doesn’t mind hopping up on the humans’ laps.

Ella

Ella

Columbine

Sam ‘n’ Ella arrived in April 2014 after Chilli passed away.  Ella is the least prolific layer of all the hens however she makes up for this by laying beautiful blue/green shelled eggs.  She’s quite introverted, enjoying the company of the other chickens but not all that keen on human interaction.

Sam ‘n’ Ella arrived in April 2014 after Chilli passed away.  Sam was chosen as she was the same breed as Chilli, who had a lovely temperament.  Sam laid 199 eggs in her 210 days with us.

Repecka

Repecka

Hipswell Ranger

Repecka joined the flock in November 2011 and quickly established herself as the mother hen, a role she relished during her last couple of years after her laying days ended after producing 658 eggs.  Her egg-laying partnership with Chilli is unrivalled in the flock.

Like most hens, Repecka would do almost anything for mealworms.

Pepper

Pepper

Hipswell Coucou

Pepper, along with Chilli, was one of the two founding chickens of Leighton Buzzard chickens.  They started the flock in September 2011 after a visit to a garden centre during a chilli festival, hence the names.

Sadly Pepper wasn’t around for very long as she passed away after only 40 days, but she laid 10 lovely eggs during that time.
